"Bella Coola Heli Sports' primary goal is to provide you with the best heliskiing and snowboarding possible."
However, in saying this, all heliskiing operations are faced with the possibility that there might be some "down time" when skiing and boarding will not be possible due to inclement weather. A second possibility exists that guests will wish to take a day off from skiing or boarding because they have reached their vertical target or need a rest day.
River Fishing is possible both before and after heli-skiing because the Atnarko River is only steps from the Lodge. Both the Atnarko and the Bella Coola River have a long history and offer world-class sport fishing opportunities. In the winter months the species in these rivers are Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Dolly Varden Char. Riverboat fishing trips, fishing guides, and rental equipment is available. Keen fisherman, are invited to bring their personal equipment. All the river fishing follows the British Columbia fresh water fishing regulations, and we are strong supporters of fly-fishing, and the catch &  release program.
River Rafting and Float Trips, even in the wintertime, are a unique way of seeing the beauty of this stunning valley. This is also a great way to see the valley's abundant wildlife. Trips are done either in whitewater rafts or in individual pontoon rafts.
Native Culture is richly expressed in the Bella Coola valley, both through traditional dances and native arts. There are a number of small galleries showcasing local artists and carvers (carvings from Bella Coola are displayed in the Smithsonian museum). Some of these arts and crafts are available for purchase. Also you can visit the 10,000 year old Petroglyphs (local Nuxalk guide available).
Horse Back Riding is possible at certain times of the winter.
