Terrain & Snow
With over 1.5 million acres of breathtaking West Coast ski & snowboard terrain, Bella Coola Helisports' playground is second to none. And with a limited number of small groups, you'll never run out of untracked snow.
Big Vertical
Those who have heliskied with us in Bella Coola know our strength is high alpine terrain and majestic scenery. This scenery is scattered with jagged rock towers, giant glacier bowls and steep couloirs crowned by enormous peaks.
Many of our runs are 5000 to 6000 vertical feet (1500 to 1800 vertical metres), with the longest yielding 7000 vertical feet (2150 vertical meters) of leg-burning utopia. Take Vail Colorado, stack Steamboat on top, remove all but 4 of the skiers, and picture untracked snow from top to bottom. Sound good to you?
Varied Terrain
When the storms roll in and the snow is falling, our unique location lets us keep skiing! We have great tree skiing only a few minutes away from the lodge, perfect for weather days when flying in the alpine isn't possible.
Our Snow
Our snow pack, straddling a coastal climate to the west and a dry interior climate to the east, is among the deepest in British Columbia.
The snow pack in our tenure is known for being significantly more stable than most, with generally low recorded avalanche hazards. This is direct result of our consistent and temperate climate, combined with reliable and plentiful snowfall. Please go to guiding and safety for more information on this topic.
As storms roll in off the Pacific they dump their moisture load on the Coast Mountains, creating some of the deepest snow packs in the world then progressively dry out as they move east.
With an abundance of snow to the west and a sunnier, drier climate pushing in from the east we have found the ideal location for Bella Coola Heli Sports.
