Record Breaking Summer & Fall Coming to an End

Our scorching hot and sunny summer and fall is coming to an end, and even as skiers, we’re going to miss it. It was easily the hottest and sunniest on record, making for more sunny heli-hiking and sightseeing days than ever before.

You could almost say it was too hot… forest fires affected the region but left the lodge and immediate surroundings unaffected. And nothing scared the salmon away…

The strong return of salmon in the rivers made for great fishing this summer, not to mention attracting the grizzlies down to the river for up-close viewing on our river drift tours. Our ‘Rod & Ski Club’ groups found lower numbers of Chinook in July, but turned their attention to some beautiful summer glacier skiing instead. Too many choices, not enough time.

Even as summer comes to an end, we’re already excited for the summer of 2010… well, after we get our fix of Heliskiing that is.
